With the holiday season upon us, the search is on for the perfect holiday outfit…or outfits shall I say! Whether you’re celebrating with family over dinner or hitting up your favorite holiday party, you can’t go wrong with metallic. This chic fabric known for its sheen will have you looking glamorous in no time 😉
Luckily, metallic is a hot ticket in fashion this season…making our lives much easier when shopping for that perfect holiday look. The key to wearing metallic is simple…don’t overdo it! Remember those great 80’s metallic looks?! Of course you do! Case in point, don’t go that route. It’s overkill and you likely aren’t trying to make that impression. Metallic is meant to be chic and eye-catching. You can sex it up (think holiday party mini dress) or tone it down (pair with softer, more subtle fabrics).
For this look in particular, I’ve gone with the latter of the two. Don’t worry, I’ll definitely be pulling out a metallic mini dress this party season! But, for this post, I actually had a company holiday dinner in mind. So I’ve paired my favorite structured pants with a loose cropped metallic sweater. Yes, this shiny rose gold sweater is beyond fabulous! I had to stop myself from wearing it 3 days in a row!
When deciding what to pair with metallic, try to keep it neutral. Here I’ve gone with olive green. Not only because olive green is an incredibly popular color in fashion this season, but also because the green allows the rose gold to really stand out. Remember, you don’t want to take the focus off of the metallic. You just want to avoid the perception that you’ll be taking the next rocket ship to outer space!
I kept my shoe choice very neutral with a nude patent leather heel. I’ve had these Jimmy Choo’s for years and they are consistently my go to nude heel. Yes, they are expensive. However, they are also timeless, classic, and bound with great quality. If you come across a great nude heel in your future, my advice would be to invest. You’ll wear them for years to come!
Oh, and, in case you didn’t notice…I cut BANGS! Yep, after months of deliberation, I finally took the plunge and I’m having so much fun with this new hairstyle! The winter season always gives us that itch to change up our look a bit. I will definitely be enjoying the bangs trend throughout winter and well into Spring!
