Casual Sailor

April 1, 2016

Spring fashion has sailor vibes written all over it! Luckily, nautical themes just never go out of style and can be worn anywhere from the office to casual gatherings.

A pair of sailor pants are no doubt an investment for your wardrobe. The double front button placement with a wide leg opening gives these slacks a classic look. Another wonderful aspect is how many options you have for pairing them with great tops and lots of shoe styles (i.e. flats, boat shoes, flip flops, heels, etc).

I like to wear sailor pants with other colors and patterns that have nautical inspirations. To balance the somewhat masculine look of these pants, try pairing them with a feminine top. Here I chose to pair my sailor pants with a striped silk tank. What can I say?…I just can’t seem to get enough of stripes this season! Keep in mind, a pair of navy pants works with so many colors variations including white, red, yellow, beige tones, etc. So don’t be shy to mix it up!

I opted for a more casual sailor look with this outfit by layering it with a bleached out chambray shirt. Maybe I’ll take a page out of Coco Chanel’s book next time and ditch the chambray for a strand of pearls around my neck ;-). Nobody did classic chic better than Coco Chanel!

Wonderful blog! Do you have any suggestions for aspiring writers?
I’m planning to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost on everything.

Would you recommend starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so
many choices out there that I’m totally confused .. Any suggestions?
Thanks a lot!

I can definitely understand why you’re a bit lost! Starting a website is very intricate. If you plan to build it yourself, it takes a lot of time and patience. I would do 10 things wrong before I did 1 thing right! Here’s some info to help you get started…

Choose a domain name (the name of your website) – is the top domain site
Decide which format you would like to use – WordPress, Blogspot, Squarespace, Weebly, etc. I personally use WordPress as it is most versatile
Choose a host for your site – I use Blue Host as they are typically most recommended
Choose a web theme – this is the design of your website. There are thousands out there so be patient. is a great place to start.

Good luck and keep me posted!
