Thanks so much for stopping by State of Lace! I truly hope you enjoy it and develop a personal connection with my style and ideas. But more than anything, I hope we can gain inspiration from each other 🙂
I’ll begin by giving you some insight into my professional career. I’ve been an executive in the fashion industry for the past several years. Prior to that, I worked in public relations and marketing in the Hollywood entertainment industry. I’ve had such amazing experiences in both industries as they are continuously evolving and exciting. I’m so pleased to be able to share what I’ve learned from my professional career on this blog. All of the tricks of the trade…just for you!
And now for the personal…I decided to start this blog after leaving my career behind and embarking on a soul searching journey to Bali. I love the quote by Kellie Elmore “Sometimes the only way to ever find yourself is to get completely lost.” Well…that’s exactly what I did! I got completely lost and found in Bali as I spent hours practicing yoga, walking aimlessly and alone through a foreign land, and getting to know the local people and their culture. I returned home with a peaceful heart and a clear mind. But best of all, I began to really see people again. I was suddenly noticing so many different people around me with so much inner beauty as well as outer beauty. However, the one thing I noticed most was the lack of confidence they held. This one key element “confidence” can change how we look and feel on a daily basis. I’m a strong believer in “if you feel good, you look good.” This is where fashion and beauty can make someone who needs a little boost in confidence feel beautiful. So if this blog can give inspiration to just one person, that’s reason enough for me to do this!
This blog is dedicated to my sister Sally, my forever style soulmate. She left this life far too soon but continues to have a presence in my heart every day. Some of my fondest memories are of us playing dress up and picking out our next cool trendy outfit. We grew up in an extremely small town in Tennessee with little access or financial means for great clothing stores. Whether we were shopping on discount racks or wearing hand me downs, we always looked our best. Fashion brought so much joy to our lives. For that, I am eternally grateful.
My love for fashion quickly evolved into a passionate love affair for beauty and skincare. I actually started wearing eye cream at the age of 15! Pretty sure my mother thought I was crazy. Wait, who am I kidding, she still thinks I’m crazy!
Enjoy the blog! And if you have any stories you’d like to share with me, I’d love to hear them!
